Agreement Reached on Phase I of Downtown Coral Springs

Coral Springs, FL – The City of Coral Springs and Amera Urban Developers, Inc. have reached an agreement for the development of Phase I of the Downtown Coral Springs project located on the southeast corner of the University Drive and Sample Road intersection next to the Coral Springs Charter School and Northwest Broward Regional Library.

The Phase I project includes approximately 95,000 square feet of commercial office and retail space, and a 368-space parking garage. Infrastructure improvements are being constructed over the summer, while the Charter School is in recess, to accommodate the project groundbreaking of the buildings and garage in November 2003. The design of Phase I buildings will also be finalized over the summer in preparation for the November groundbreaking. Phase I project completion is slated for December 2004.

“The Downtown Coral Springs project is coming to reality. Phase I is a sampling of exciting mixed-use development that will continue to follow in its path. Upon completion, the Downtown project will functionally and aesthetically symbolize the heart and soul of our great City, Vice Mayor Alan Polin said.

“Phase I development has an added benefit to our community. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of building sites by the Community Redevelopment Agency will be earmarked for the construction of the Coral Springs Charter School’s auditorium and music facility, advancing the quality of education for our kids. This is another ‘Sterling’ example of how the City leverages its resources with the private sector to maximize the package of benefits to our residents, City Manager Mike Levinson said.
